Summer Fun

“Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been
the two most beautiful words in the English language.”   - Henry James

Summer fun fact: The term, “dog days of summer” refers to the time between July 3 and August 11. Historically, this (hot) period occurred immediately following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius - in the constellation Canis Major - which Greek and Roman astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever and bad luck. These dates are now taken to be the hottest, most uncomfortable part of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

Also, according to folklore, if you want to know (roughly) the temperature, listen to the number of cricket chirps in a 15-second period and add 37 to get the approximate temperature in Fahrenheit.

In addition to summer fun facts and folklore, please read on to discover the current happenings of the Healer Within Foundation. Mark your calendars and plan to join us at one of our upcoming events!

Whether you be in a warm or cool climate, north or south, east or west, counting cricket chirps or waiting for Sirius to rise, we wish you a healthy (and FUN) summer season!

Be well,
Your friends at the Healer Within Foundation
