Happy Lunar New Year!

“Every moment is a fresh beginning.” - T.S. Eliot

The Lunar New Year, also referred to as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is a holiday which celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. This year, the holiday began on Sunday, January 22 with celebrations concluding on February 5. Celebrations and festivities historically begin the evening before the New Year up until the Lantern Festival, which is held on the 15th day of the new year.

This new year brings in the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. The element for the year is Water. The Year of the Rabbit is also considered a Yin year, which is about receiving more and striving less. In Chinese Astrology, the Rabbit brings peace, hope, and harmony. It brings a much gentler energetic expression compared to 2022's Tiger, which means this is a good year to focus on what is really important, slow down, and make recharging ones own energy a priority.

Whether or not you officially celebrate, you may take a cue from the traditions described below to hold your own personal observance:

  • Enjoy a reunion dinner with family and friends. In Chinese culture, the New Year's Eve feast is a "must do" dinner with all family members reuniting. A wonderful excuse to gather with loved ones if you haven't connected with them in awhile!
  • Clean the house. This may not sound too celebratory, but Chinese people carry out a thorough ‘winter-cleaning’ of their houses during this time. They refer to this as, "sweeping away the dust," and it represents a wish to put away old things, bid farewell to the old year, and welcome in the New Year.
  • Listen to (or ring your own) New Year bell. A bell is a traditional symbol of Chinese New Year, and Chinese people believe that ringing a large bell can drive away bad luck and bring good fortune.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, we hope this Year of the Rabbit brings you happiness, luck, prosperity and above all, good health.

Be Well,
Your friends at Healer Within Foundation

Breath: Your "Medicine In The Moment"

Breath is the most critical physiological function, one of the most transformative forces in life, and one of the most powerful medicines on the planet.

According to Jessica Dibb, founder of the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance, and Dr. Dan Siegel, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA, breath is our “medicine in the moment.” It is right there, always - just waiting to be breathed by us.

Yet, many of us are not consciously accessing this power. So how do we tap into this superpower already with us?

On Saturday, February 4, join Jessica and Dr. Siegel in a complimentary online event where you’ll learn how to use conscious breathing to access deep awareness and insight stored within.

You may register HERE for The Unifying Function of Breath: Breathwork for Awakened Consciousness, Enhanced Wholeness & the Harmonious Integration of Self.

In this transformative hour, you will:

  • Discover how breathwork can enhance wholeness, integration, and presence
  • Understand how breath can support your emotional regulation - and how to use it to instantaneously change your internal state
  • Explore the concept of breath as love, medicine, and nourishment for human potential
  • Serve as a “tuning fork” for humanity to develop the capacity for conscious breathing

Dr. Siegel will introduce the plane of possibility and share how the breath is integral to tapping your human potential in alignment with your highest self through presence and integration.

Jessica will then guide you through a breathwork practice in which you’ll discover the plane of embodied presence in action - from practical self-care to awakened consciousness and self-actualization.

You’ll recognize that you can optimize every moment of your life by accessing the vitality and intelligence within by embodying your breath, which is connected to everything around you.

RSVP with no cost HERE. Enjoy!
